Carlsbad – Phil Urbina, a resident of Carlsbad for more than 40 years, has officially earned the endorsement of the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association in his race for the Carlsbad City Council District 4 seat.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the CPOA. Our exemplary police department is a source of civic pride,” states Urbina. “Our residents know that, when they call for help, they can count on a timely response by a well-trained officer. I intend to continue investing in our public safety services so that Carlsbad remains a place where families thrive.”
Phil Urbina has been a vocal supporter of the Carlsbad Police Department and its continued funding despite push back from a handful of residents and an elected official who wish to “restructure” the police department and its budget in response to recent national campaign narratives.
"The Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association is honored to endorse Phil Urbina for Carlsbad City Council. We trust that public safety and community standards will be top priorities for Mr. Urbina during his time on the council," said Jim Willis, president of the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association.
“Carlsbad is one of the best places in California to raise a family. That is due in large part to the quality of life and safety our citizens enjoy thanks to the hard-working men and women of the Carlsbad Police Department,” Urbina emphatically stated.
Phil Urbina owned and operated a small business in Carlsbad for many years. An active member of civic life for more than four decades, Urbina has served in a leadership capacity for every major charitable and civic organization in Carlsbad.
